On January 15, 2019, Petra Little Theatre (now Petra Theatre) Artistic Director, Meilinda, with the support from English for Creative Industry Program and the then Faculty of Languages and Literature, invited representatives of seven universities from Nationwide University Network in Indonesia (NUNI) to a kick-off meeting addressing the opportunity to establish a higher-education network of English-language performing arts.

The meeting was fruitful and the participants agreed to establish EPACI (English Performing Arts Consortium in Indonesia). EPACI wishes to prepare human resources in English performing arts that are well set to go global without overlooking Indonesia's cultural roots.

EPACI was inaugurated at Sanata Dharma University, Yogyakarta, on March 23, 2019, marked by Petra Little Theatre's performance of "A Story of Wounds".

EPACI founding-members are: Universitas Kristen Petra (Surabaya), Universitas Sanata Dharma (Yogyakarta), Universitas Udayana (Bali), Universitas Sebelas Maret (Surakarta), Universitas Kristen Satya Wacana (Salatiga), Universtias Kristen Maranatha (Bandung), Universitas Katolik Soegijapranata (Semarang).

Petra held the chair position of EPACI for 2019-2021 period, followed by Maranatha for 2021-2023 period. The current chair is Sanata Dharma.
